One of my favorite quotes is from the apostle Paul in Galatians where he says “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” That’s all that counts. What doesn’t count is our list of wins, our reputation, and everything that we fight so hard to be recognized for.
Faith is best expressed through love, not through saying the right prayers, having the right theology, or being morally disciplined. Those kind of things seem to come as result of a faith expressing itself through love, not a prerequisite.
Faith, just like love, is a matter of the heart. And when people wonder about what kind of faith we have, they will not look at our intellectual beliefs, they will look at how we love. They will look at how we treat people, how we react to situations, and how we live. That is why love is all that counts when we express whatever faith we have.
